The Hidden Cost of Not Investing in Your Health

When people think about investing in their health, cost is often the first thing that comes to mind.
Is it worth it? Can I justify it? Should I spend the money on this right now?
Those are real questions, and they are valid questions to have, especially when things are tight for families right now.
But, there’s another side of the conversation that often gets overlooked by so many people–what is the cost of not investing in your health?
The Real Question About Investing in Your Health
Opportunity cost is the idea that every choice we make comes with a trade-off—saying yes to one thing often means saying no to something else.
This applies to our health more than we might realize.
Choosing not to invest in your health today might feel like saving money, but over time, that decision can come with other costs.
Less energy, more fatigue, and not feeling your best day to day may not seem significant at first, but over time, it can make a bigger impact than you realize.
Looking at the Bigger Picture
It’s easy to view health-related purchases as an expense, but with a different perspective, they become more than just another expense.
It’s an investment in how you feel when you wake up, the energy you move through your day with, and how you’re able to show up for your family and the life you’re building.
And when you start to look at it through that lens, everything shifts.
Small Investments That Shift Your Perspective
Investing in your health doesn’t have to mean doing everything all at once. More often, it looks like small, intentional choices made consistently over time. Choosing better options, paying attention to what your body needs, and supporting it in ways that help it function well are all intentional choices that will benefit your future self.
Small investments can have a much bigger impact than we sometimes expect, especially long term.
And sometimes, the biggest shift isn’t in what you’re doing, it’s in how you’re thinking about it. Instead of asking, “Is this worth the money?” ask, “What is it costing me to NOT make this change?”
That simple shift in perspective can bring a lot of clarity and help you see your health in a completely different way.
Something to Consider
If you’ve been on the fence about investing in your health, you’re not alone, but you should reconsider sooner than later.
Your health touches every part of your life—how you feel, your energy, and how you’re able to show up each day for yourself and your family.
And sometimes, the most valuable investment you can make is the one that supports you in showing up fully for your life and the people in it. I could talk about this forever, it's honestly one of the topics I am most passionate about through being in this business. I see too often people putting off good health choices because they "cost too much", only to pay more for them later in the way of insurance and doctors visits. These things can be prevented by investing sooner.
